Chloë Hanslip's performances with Alexander Vedernikov and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana are confident and appealing, and Glazunov's solidly scored and expressively compelling work comes off well in this album. But as pleasant as the Schoeck piece is in Hanslip's hands, with its open emotions and soaring lines, it is extremely derivative of Brahms, and not especially memorable for any themes or dramatic passages

I wondered how long it would be before the Schoeck concerto caught the eye of Hyperion in their Romantic Violin Concerto series. It’s such a delightful work with a lambently expressive absorption in the singing heart of the instrument. That the music was written as a love offering by Swiss lieder and opera specialist, Othmar Schoeck to Stefi Geyer who gave him the cold shoulder dampens the ardour of the music not a whit.
But it's for Swiss composer Othmar Schoeck's concerto quasi una fantasia that her disc deserves attention. Known mainly for his Lieder, Schoeck (1886-1957) wrote a concerto full of soulful reverie, which Hanslip captures with breathtaking eloquence. - -Financial Times,18/04/13.
