Choir – New Chamber Opera. Composed By – Antonio Vivaldi. Ensemble – The Band Of Instruments.

Antonio Vivaldi: Cantatas. The Band of Instruments. Counter Tenor (Vocal).

New Chamber Opera was founded in 1990 by Michael Burden and Gary Cooper. Burden serves as its director. The Band of Instruments, founded by Michael Burden and Gary Cooper in 1995, first performed with the Choir of New College, Oxford. In 2014 the Band's musical director is Roger Hamilton, and its leader is Caroline Balding. Vivaldi Cantatas: music by Antonio Vivaldi, 2004, ASV CDGAU339.

Vivaldi's chamber cantatas for solo voice, some forty in total, are steadily gaining in popularity: but because of their relatively small place in the oeuvr.

The Red Priest - Antonio Vivaldi - has written a lot of operas (more than 90 according to the man himself!), however only a few remain in whole or in parts. But what music! Basically the same opera and arias written and re-written again and again. For those deep-voiced women he loved. Like Anna Giro back in the day (like the 1700's).

Antonio Vivaldi was born in Venice on March 4 th, 1678 to Giovanni Vattista Vivaldi and his wife Camilla Calicchio. Vivaldi soon began his study of priesthood at the age of 14 or 15; an idea probably pushed on him from his father. It was a common way for a poor family to get a free education for their child. Woodwind instruments were a focal point of most European orchestras, but the trend wasn t popular in Italy.
