Rojo is an album by jazz pianist Red Garland, released in 1961 on Prestige Records, featuring tracks recorded on August 22, 1958. Rojo" (Garland) - 8:54. We Kiss in a Shadow" (Rodgers, Hammerstein II) - 6:47. Darling Je Vous Aime Beacoup" (Anna Sosenko) - 5:14. Ralph J. Gleason Blues" (Garland) - 6:43. You Better Go Now" (Bickley Reichner, Irvin Graham) - 5:11. Mr. Wonderful" (Weiss, Block, Holofcener) - 8:14. George Joyner - double bass. Charlie Persip - drums.

Garland's influential style had been fully formed since the mid-'50s and his chord voicings were immediately recognizable. With the assistance of bassist Wendell Marshall and drummer Charlie Persip, Garland explores and updates seven veteran songs (including a previously unreleased "My Blue Heaven") dating from the '20s era. This fine LP is highlighted by such unlikely material as "Sonny Boy," "St. James Infirmary," "Baby Won't You Please Come Home," and a 12-minute "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen.
