Head Above Water is the sixth studio album by Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. It was released on February 15, 2019, through BMG Rights Management. It is Lavigne's first studio release since her self-titled fifth studio album (2013), marking the longest gap between two of her studio albums.
Hot Water is the sixteenth studio album by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It was released in June 1988 as MCA 42093 and was produced by Coral Reefer Band members Michael Utley, Russell Kunkel, and Ralph MacDonald. The album was Jimmy's first album recorded at his new studio in Key West, FL called Shrimpboat Sound. The LP continues Buffett's use of a wide variety of musical instruments than was typical for. Buffett's earlier works, notably horns and percussion. Jimmy Buffett shaved off his trademark mustache for the album.

Her ground-breaking debut album Let Go has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, becoming her highest selling album to date. The sophomore album Under My Skin shows much more maturity from her both vocally and lyrically. Sadly, the pop-rock queen (sometimes punk) started to deliver something more generic and sloppy projects. After six years of interval, she came back with an emotional and spiritual single "Head Above Water" which is the title of the album where she sings her struggle and near-death experience of battling with Lyme disease. This emotional piano-ballad really sets the tone of the album.
Head Above Water, then, is an album about resilience, one that explores the range of her vocal chords, with little time for the scream-singing that once defined her sound. On the title track, her voice cuts above swooning strings, while the lyrics attribute healing qualities to her singing: And my voice becomes the driving force/I won’t let this pull me overboard. Then, right before the chorus hits, the background cuts out, and Lavigne’s mezzo bursts into a booming prayer: God keep my head above water.
Head Above Water is Avril Lavigne's sixth studio album, released on February 15, 2019. On December 25, 2016, Lavigne announced that she would have released the album in 2017. On March 1, 2017, she announced her label change, and that now she would have been under BMG US and release the album in the same year. However, no new music from the album was published in that year.
But her sixth album, Head Above Water, arrives promising authenticity – with a somewhat concerning insistence. This is me and my fight, said Lavigne ahead of its release. This album tells my story. A press release announced: You’re hearing the songstress as she was always meant to sound, before detailing the 34-year-old’s life-threatening battle with Lyme disease. Lavigne might not have found a musical identity that truly becomes her, but Head Above Water is an effective, and occasionally affecting, album. Besides, everyone’s got an opinion, but I don’t care, she sings on It Was In Me – so what does it matter what I think? More about.
