Ellipse is the third studio album from British singer-songwriter Imogen Heap. After returning from a round the world writing trip, Heap completed the album at her childhood home in Essex, converting her old playroom in the basement into a studio. The album got its name from the distinctive elliptical shape of the house. The album's title was confirmed by Heap via her Twitter page on 25 April 2009, after being leaked onto the internet on 23 April

Ellipse is Imogen Heap’s third studio album, released on July 14, 2009. It was released to positive reception, earning a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Non-Classical Album. Did Imogen ever feel any mounting pressure with "Ellipse"? No – nothing is worse than my own pressure. If I could get rid of that.

On 14 July, the first single "First Train Home" was released, and a digital. The Deluxe version includes instrumental tracks of the entire album.

Track 2-11 (also an instrumental version of "The Fire") solely features the sound of a crackling fire. Track 1-11 again combines both recordings on one track. Published by WB Music Corp. Thankfully, Imogen Heap knows her basics inside-out, and as a result Ellipse is more than a pleasant listen. Her airy vocals are the sort that serve as an extra instrument, adding depth to the overall aesthetic which is only amplified when she layers backing vocals four and five times over to create a wall of delicate words.
