After listening to this, I was very surprised to see the AllMusic Guide calling the band "glammy". That might have applied to the band's clothes taste, but on this album, there is no sentimentality (except in moderation on "Dreamin'") of the type that I feel glams up T.Rex or Roxy Music. This is soulful though, just very straight-ahead. A less virtuosic 1+1 era Grin. Excellent, melodic, varied power trio arrangements that maintain interest without any fancy electronics or heavy reliance on overdubs (except on "Dreamin'" and on the Left Banke cover, which is better than both the original and the Four Tops version, and that says a lot). Unshowy rock with consistent songcraft and above-average bass lines that hold up their end. The Cream tribute "The Stranger" demonstrates self-deprecating good humor. "I Love Rock N Roll" is classic.
