Banal
This album belongs in any serious jazz collection. Cowell's rhythmic and percussive playing create an intense groove on tracks like the opener, Abscretions, yet the quieter pieces display an equal amount of profound feeling. This is indeed, as the review suggests, spiritual jazz of the highest order. Prayer for Peace reaches an exalted level.
