On this album, Swedish guitarist Georg Gulyás presents all of Benjamin Britten's works in which the guitar is included, performed together with German mezzo-soprano Ivonne Fuchs. The programme wraps up with a solo piece, the Nocturnal Op. 70, one of the most important works in the guitar repertoire. Based on John Dowland’s Come Heavy Sleep, the piece reflects the various stages of insomnia and hints at how sleep or death finally enters as a liberator. 96 kHz, 24-bit PCM – Proprius SACD Studio Masters.
Georg Gulyás plays Bach. Description: Bach: Chaconne BWV I004, Suite in E minor BWV 996, Suite in A minor (B minor) BWV 997. Georg Gulyás (guitar). By that I mean in a good way. This is Bach after all and he was no panty waist. When I compare this Proprius sacd with their other Gulyas spanish guitar sacd. the latter is far superior and one of the best sacd's I own. While it's true that the spanish one was recorded in a studio while this one was in a church. it all comes down to the recording and what system they used to do so.
