Stoneage Romeos is the debut album by Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus. Released on 9 March 1984 by Big Time Records in Australia, the album's release saw them receive record sales to complement their already strong reputation for live performances. With radio and television support for their third single "My Girl" (1983), complete with a film clip about a greyhound of the same name, the band's following grew. The album's other singles were "Leilani" (1982), "Tojo" (1983), and "I Want You Back" (1984).
Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus have released nine studio albums, thirty-six singles, two extended plays, six compilation albums and four video albums. Formed in January 1981, the band was originally known as Le Hoodoo Gurus for the release of their first single, "Leilani", in October 1982. As Hoodoo Gurus, the band signed with Big Time Records and premiered their debut album, Stoneage Romeos, in March 1984

The Hoodoo Gurus played power pop with the force and enthusiasm of a full-bore rock band, and while they loved '60s garage rock (as if "(Let's All) Turn On" and "In the Echo Chamber" would permit any doubt on the subject), there was a lot more going on than that - check out the pop rock of. "I Want You Back," the neo-exotica of "Zanzibar," the psychobilly of "Dig It Up," the heartbroken lament of "My Girl," and the straight-ahead rock of "I Was a Kamikaze Pilot
The Hoodoo Gurus 1984 debut album is jam full of great garage punk songs with a big fat rhythm section and a wall of guitars through a massive echo chamber, and great songs about weird things. The last Track "(Let's All) Turn On" was a manifesto - checking off the Flaming Groovies, Ramones, Elvis, the Stones and T-Rex. STONEAGE ROMEOS has been remastered and comes with the original artwork/fold-out classic poster from the relevant period plus relevant b-sides and bonus tracks. I bought this CD to replace my old cassette of "Stoneage Romeos" that i played to death. They are a really great band.
