Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 is a compilation album by country singer Johnny Cash, released in 1967 (see 1967 in music) on Columbia Records. It is notable in that it marks the first appearance of "Jackson", Cash's famous duet with his future wife, June Carter. The track would appear on Carryin' On with Johnny Cash and June Carter in August of that same year. The album was certified Gold on 7/24/1969 and Platinum and 2x Platinum on 11/21/1986 by the RIAA. Album – Billboard (North America).

Released in 1967, Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 chronicles Johnny Cash's first years at CBS/Columbia, presenting 11 of his biggest hits from 1959-1967. Of course, this couldn't include all of his charting hits from this era, but it does have the biggest and best singles from that time - "Jackson," "Ring of Fire," "Five Feet High and Rising," and "Don't Take Your Guns to Town" among them - as well as the timeless Sun side "I Walk the Line.

Johnny Cash had different backing bands, tried different approaches and went through some turbulent periods in his personal life, but somehow he never lost touch with who he was, both as a creative artist and as a human being  . The album bristles with energy and attitude as well as great, great music from Cash and his band (Carl Perkins and The Tennessee Three). It features many classics, including a live version of "Folsom Prison Blues", and Jackson, sung as a duet with his soon to be wife, June Carter.
