Janis Joplin: This Ain't No Tribute Series - All Blues'd Up! is an unusual way to pay tribute (or apparently not pay tribute) to the music surrounding Janis Joplin, whether it be songs that she wrote or just performed. Offering new versions of "Piece of My Heart," "Mercedes Benz," and many others, the album features modern electric blues artists like Taj Mahal and Tracy Nelson delivering fairly straightforward blues renditions of these songs. Joplin was heavily influenced by the genre, but her music was more soulful than the renditions offered here
Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer, songwriter and music arranger. She rose to prominence in the late 1960s as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Company and later as a solo artist.

Pearl is the second and final solo studio album by Janis Joplin, released posthumously in January 1971. It was the final album with her direct participation, and the only Joplin album recorded with the Full Tilt Boogie Band, her final touring unit. It peaked at number one on the Billboard 200, holding that spot for nine weeks. It has been certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA.
