The thought of the young beauty (The Tsar´s Bride) (sung in russian) - Mikhail Grishko. 27. Una furtiva lagrima (L´elisir d´amore) - Sergei Lemeshev.

Behind the Iron Curtain is a live album released by German singer Nico in 1986. It features a concert recorded at De Doelen Concertgebouw, Grote Zaal (Great Hall), in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on 9 October 1985. The concert was held as part of the Pandora's Music Box music festival. Although the release states it was "recorded live in Warsaw, Budapest and Prague between 2. 85"-thus behind the Iron Curtain-it was in fact entirely recorded at the one concert in Rotterdam.

JJSinKCK asked me how Stalin was portrayed in the Soviet history books. Instead of a thoughtful answer I picked out and translated some of the propaganda. With Lenin's book in hand,in front of Lenin's and Stalin's complete works The last one is a contemporary take on the old propaganda.

Behind the Iron Curtain book. During the Cold War, Estonia lay behind the Iron Curtain  . Even in the grip of Soviet rule, the country underwent many important developments. The papers a During the Cold War, Estonia lay behind the Iron Curtain.

The rise of Mikhail Gorbachev to General Secretary of the Soviet Union ushered in a time of general reform in Soviet Russia. This reform was not out of want, but rather out of necessity. The volatility of the international oil and natural gas markets, along with the ups and downs of the ever-struggling agricultural sector, put the very existence of the Soviet Union in jeopardy (Freeze 454-55). Two years later the american artist Billy Joel went on tour in Soviet Russia. The live album Концерт, the first live rock album ever recorded in Russia, captures one of the Leningrad shows on tape, along with the cheers and appreciation of the Russian people. Russians themselves also began to make rock and pop music.

Women in the Stalin Era. Houndmills, Hampshire: Palgrave, 2001. xiii + 256 p. ill. ISBN 0-333-77930-4 (cl). Melanie Ilic, in her introduction to Women of the Stalin Era, outlines the official Soviet narrative of women's liberation. According to Soviet historians, after the legal equality of men and women was declared in 1917, the Soviet state sought to make women economically independent of men by drawing them into the workforce. The Communist Party set up the Zhenotdel, or Woman's Department, to address women's needs.

The Soviet UFO Files describes the history of Russian experience with UFOs. Bright well-defined color and somewhat-hazy black-and-white photographs are throughout the book, showing both UFOs and the Russian cultural experience. As I said before, this is an easy read, and very appropriate for curious young readers and as an introduction to the history of the UFO phenomenon in the Soviet Union for any layperson. I enjoyed it for what it was, but it left me in need of a more in-depth expose' on the subject matter. Paul Stonehill has also written (with Philip Mantle) Mysterious Sky, Soviet UFO Phenomenon.

Fashion for the majority of Soviet women the concept of remote and unfamiliar, but it does not mean it in the Soviet Union did not exist at all: it shows a new exhibition of leading and fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev.
