The Choir of Westminster Abbey is renowned worldwide as one of the finest choirs of its type. Comprising some thirty boys (all of whom attend the Abbey’s unique Choir School) and twelve professional adult singers (known as Lay Vicars), its main focus is to sing the daily choral services in the Abbey, as it has done for more than six centuries. It also plays a central role in the many royal, state, and national occasions which take place here, many of which are broadcast on television and radio. John Tavener, Sir Terry Wogan and other national and international figures. In parallel with its liturgical work, the Choir pursues a varied programme of high-profile recordings, concerts and tours. Under the direction of principal conductor James O’Donnell it has travelled to Australia, the Far East, the United States, Russia, Hungary, Germany, Italy and Spain.

John Tavener's "Innocence" offers listeners perhaps the broadest insight into the man and his music in the smallest and most convenient package. In this one CD, there is a sample of Tavener's large-scale style (the title work "Innocence" itself) as well as some of his finest smaller pieces (including the much-celebrated "The Lamb" and its less well-known but equally effective sequel, "The Tyger")

Innocence, for soprano, tenor, chorus, organ & handbells. 3. The Tyger, for chorus.

We're pleased to announce that Peter Roberts has been appointed Headmaster of Westminster Abbey Choir School and will take up the post in September 2019 currently Assessment Co-ordinator at St George's School Windsor Castle. He will succeed Jonathan Milton, who is retiring this summer after 17 years as Headmaster. Westminster Abbey Choir School educates the thirty boys who sing in The Choir of Westminster Abbey.
