Cuddlebug was The Simon Sisters second album, released in 1964 for Kapp Records. The album was produced by up-and-coming music producer at the time, Jo Siopis. Siopis brought a raw and uncompromising merseybeat rock style to The Simon Sisters record, having been clearly influenced by her earlier work on the Gerry & The Pacemakers album How Do You Like It?.
Carly and Lucy Simon offer pleasant folk with tight, high harmonies and a pop flavor on an album largely devoted to interpretation of traditional and contemporary folk tunes. It's not far off from what Peter, Paul & Mary were doing at the same time, or what Simon & Garfunkel did on their very first (acoustic) album, though the production is more basic and, of course, the harmonies are exclusively female.

Lucy Simon, left, and Carly Simon in Martha’s Vineyard, where they reflected on family life and their work. And for the next few hours, the Simon Sisters, as they were billed when they sang as a folk duo in the ’60s, spoke warmly but candidly about the powerful devotion and jealousy of siblings. Carly, 69, had the bigger career, winning a Grammy as best new artist for her solo debut in 1971, and following that up with a string of hits through the ’70s, including You’re So Vain, Anticipation and Mockingbird (with her husband at the time, James Taylor).
The Simon Sisters were Carly Simon and Lucy Simon, who as a duo made a few obscure folky albums in the 1960s, predating Carly Simon's rise to fame as a star singer/songwriter. In the mid-'60s they recorded a couple of albums for Kapp in a pleasing if hardly innovative pop-flavored folk style, with tight coffeehouse harmonies in the manner of Peter, Paul & Mary and early Simon & Garfunkel.
