Live, 1983-1985 was the concert album that Rick Nelson fans probably know best, issued by Silver Eagle Records in 1986 in the wake of Nelson's sudden, tragic death and heavily promoted as an LP, before Rhino Records grabbed up the CD rights three years later. Nelson was still near the top of his game when he did the Los Angeles and Chicago shows represented here - his band might not have had figures in it as recognizable as the members of the Stone Canyon Band from the dawn of the 1970s later became, but they were never less than first-rate.

In 1983, Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band was disbanded, and he put together a new group with a foundation in the rockabilly roots of his youth. 20-something drummer Ricky Intveldt and electric and standup bassist Pat Woodward combined to give Rick's new band an authentic rockabilly rhythm section, with longtime SCB members Bobby Neal and Dave Morgan continuing on guitar and piano, respectively. Cracks me up when some uninformed music know-it-all dismisses Rick Nelson's records as teen idol fluff. Obviously they never heard this disc. The 1985 songs come from a show at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles that was made into a tv special with Fats Domino, and also released to home video.

The following is a detailed discography of all albums released by country music singer Willie Nelson, since his professional debut in 1962. Nelson's discography includes 98 studio albums (consisting of 69 solo studio albums and 29 collaborative studio albums), 12 live albums, and 42 compilation albums, as well as the soundtracks of The Electric Horseman and Honeysuckle Rose.
