I love the songs on this album after the more well known ones. Best song from best album.
More than any other rock band, before or since, Queen were both a great albums band and a great singles band. They could do it all – heavy rock, pop, opera, disco, gospel – and they did it all brilliantly. 13. Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy. There was a flavour of traditional British music hall in two playful songs from 1975’s A Night At The Opera – Seaside Rendezvous and Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon. But on the following album, A Day At The Races, Freddie turned that influence into a hit song. As a single it was not a hit, but it’s one of the definitive early Queen songs. 11. You’re My Best Friend. In the 80s John Deacon wrote the huge hits Another One Bites The Dust and I Want To Break Free, but You’re My Best Friend was his first song that was released as a single, in 1976.
Bound 2" almost sounds like it belongs on a different album. After more than 30 minutes of aggressive, pounding, icy production on Yeezus, it feels like the heavens open up when that first Ponderosa Twins Plus One sample kicks in. "Bound 2" is a throwback to classic 'Ye production, soulful and warm, and the fact that it allows us to see him vulnerable and in love makes it all the better. Miley's voice has a richness and a maturity that's pretty remarkable for someone her age, and nowhere is her heart more open and her voice more strong than on "Adore Yo. Swoon-worthy lyric: "When you say you love me, know I love you more, When you say you need me, know I need you more, Boy, I adore you".
Faith No More’s independently released first album was recorded on a shoestring budget and went virtually unnoticed by the world at large. But it still featured a handful of tracks worthy (and indicative) of the brilliant, genre-bending music still to come. We see no reason for our list of the Top 10 Faith No More Songs to shy away from the band’s stranger musical impulses, so we dive headlong into the one and only ‘Cuckoo for Caca. A notable standout from the spectacularly rich ‘King for a Day’ LP, this peerless mutation of metallic fury and hymnal organ topped with head-scratching lyric obliqueness achieves a dadaist catharsis rarely seen in rock and roll circles outside of Frank Zappa or Captain Beefheart.
Required Listening: The Best Love Songs of 2018. And on the seventh day, God blessed us with Frank Ocean. Design by Morgan McMullen. Miley Cyrus is back and taking a very different route from her 2017 album, Younger Now. The singer decided to close 2018 with the release of her new pop single, "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart," co-written with Mark Ronson. While the overall theme explores heartbreak generally ("We got all night to fall in love, But just like that we fall apart"), the music video specifically alludes to the heartbreaking reality of gun violence in America. If Drake is the resident good guy for Millennial fans, Khalid is the resident good guy of the Gen-Zs. In less than two years, the 20-year-old has crafted an authentic, wholesome image for himself, showcasing his incredible talent beginning with last year's release of his debut studio album, American Teen.
The title of Talking Heads' second album, More Songs About Buildings and Food, slyly addressed the sophomore record syndrome, in which songs not used on a first LP are mixed with hastily written new material. If the band's sound seems more conventional, the reason simply may be that one had encountered the odd song structures, staccato rhythms, strained vocals, and impressionistic lyrics once before. Another was that new co-producer Brian Eno brought a musical unity that tied the album together, especially in terms of the rhythm section, the sequencing, the pacing, and the mixing
