This can be suitable for the right kind of song, but, the melody really needs to be strong and there should be something else picking up the interest too such as clever chord changes, or percussion providing some variety and interest. Most of the time, you'll do well to take the notes from the melody you're starting to compose, and really think hard about how to 'spice' them up by holding on to certain notes longer, adding quavers and semi-quavers across slightly quicker passages to bring more musical movement in to the melody

Good melodies need a memorable shape. There have been successful songs that have dwelt upon one or two notes, or that have been highly repetitious. But in general, you should be able to look at your created melody and hear obvious high and low points in the range. Generally, chorus melodies should be pitched higher than verse melodies, and bridge melodies even higher. Stepwise motion makes it easier to sing, and leaps inject melodic interest. The material presentation is not only precise but also specific for easy grasp. I thought I should commend you for the good work.

In any case, memorable melodies are logical – they make sense to the ear. They’re repetitive: Repetition is a fundamental element of memorability. Most popular melodies have heavy repetition, say, a repeating rhythmic or melodic motif. Pick up a copy of Music Theory: The TL;DR Version for free here. Tip Steal like an artist. Good artists copy; great artists steal. With the examples below, I’ve kept the rhythm and notes strict for the purpose of demonstration, but typically I’d use the rhythm or notes as a starting point only. Here’s an example for each: Stealing the rhythm from Enur ft.
