Title: Johnny Got His Gun (2008). Although it had a limited release in art houses in 2008, it was never intended by the filmmaker to be a remake of the original movie. As the poster says, it is a "live on stage, on film" version of the 1982 Off-Broadway play, shot in a similar style as Lars von Trier's DOGVILLE. Basically, it's a film of a one-person stage play, with a riveting performance by a young Ben Mc Kenzie. Also, the story is told from the wounded soldier's POV, trapped inside his own head (consciousness), not outside looking at his lifeless body lying on a bed like the 1970 movie.
Johnny Got His Gun. Synopsis: Joe, a young American soldier, is hit by a mortar shell on the last day of World War I. He lies in a hospital bed in a fate worse than death - a quadruple amputee who has lost his arms, legs, eyes, ears, mouth and nose. He remains conscious and able to think, thereby reliving his life through strange dreams and memories, unable to distinguish whether he is awake or dreaming.
Truth has to be told I don't bend, I don't fold I lost count how many we sold I went Silver, I went Gold Then I went Platinum, so what's next? Supermodels tryna sex Sendin' nudes on a text Can't believe I used to be vexed See, it's too easy To write a sad song about how my dad raised me 'Cause I'm lookin' in the mirror and my dad made me A real top boy, I just can't play the victim Been livin' my life as a kingpin . Bullet from a Gun basically speaks about everything the rest of the album says. I’ve never put out an intro of my album first. I always try to leave the first track.
