The first major Broadway revival of My Fair Lady was billed as the 20th anniversary production and, in fact, opened 20 years to the month after the first one in March 1976. Lyricist/librettist Alan Jay Lerner and composer Frederick Loewe joined theatrical producer Herman Levin in supervising the new staging in a style as close to the original as possible, and the cast album was produced by Goddard Lieberson, just as the 1956 one had been.
Original cast: the premiere or original cast of the production (original Broadway cast; original London cast; original Toronto cast; original Australian cast, et. This can (rather confusingly) include revivals as well as first productions. Less misleading in this last case is "Revival Cast". Studio cast: assembled by a record company. In the early days, the studio cast singers were often lesser known performers with good singing voices, usually joined by one fairly well known star.

My Fair Lady (2018 Broadway Cast Recording). Mean Girls (Original Broadway Cast Recording). Carol Channing's voice wavers unfavorably in this 30th anniversary production of the Jerry Herman smash hit that was wonderfully recorded on a best selling original cast album. This was her fourth time on the Broadway stage as Dolly (1964, 1977, 1985 and 1994), and being touted as her "farewell to Dolly" became a kind of a joke, even one she got a few laughs in on by insisting that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".
The Broadway cast recording of the musical My Fair Lady was released as an album on April 2, 1956. The show’s last Broadway revival was in 1993.
