Orchestra: Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Conductor: Eugen Jochum. Composer: Anton Bruckner. Audio CD (April 8, 2003). The passage of time has hardly depreciated this set of Bruckner symphonies, recorded during the late 1950s and 1960s, which has been reissued at full price here in improved packaging - 9 CDs in sleeves in a slimline box, an improvement over the old three 3-CD cases that were often sold separately at resale shops.
Orchestra – Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Notes Anton Bruckner, Beiers t Dirigent Eugen Jochum - Symphony Nr. 9 In D Klein (LP).
The special feature of the 9 album being presented here by BR KLASSIK is that the recordings are conducted by not only one but a total of four conductors closely associated with the orchestra, all of them proven international Bruckner experts. More than in any other compilation, common features in interpretation (also due to the same orchestra) as well as fascinating differences due to the various interpretive approaches of the respective conductors can all be detected . Anton Bruckner - Symphony No. 9 D Minor. Mariss Jansons and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks presented the original version of the three completed movements of Bruckner's Symphony No. 9 in January 2014. Eugen Jochum, the first chief conductor of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks conducts a composition by his great colleague Wilhelm Furtwängler, who regarded himself both conductor and composer. Lorin Maazel continued with the tradition that Eugen Jochum had startet: together with the orchestra he performed all nine symphonies of Anton Bruckner. Even the Symphonie in D minor, also known as Symphonie No 0, was part of this cycle.
