The Dynamic collection Pennies From Heaven compiles 18 performances from that decade, many of them taken from performances on film or radio - not as though the compilers saw fit to inform anyone of these recordings' origins. The sound quality, however, is acceptable for the vintage, and Crosby is still heard in the grip of his darkly romantic persona that made him the best jazz singer of his era.
