The Piedmont blues (also known as Piedmont fingerstyle) is a type of blues music, characterized by a unique fingerpicking method on the guitar in which a regular, alternating-thumb bassline pattern supports a melody using the treble strings. The result is comparable in sound to ragtime or stride piano styles.
The Piedmont Blūz acoustic duo are ambassadors of Country Blues music and the Piedmont style of fingerpicking, and their mission is to help preserve these rural, east coast traditions by educating audiences about this unique aspect of African American culture through musical entertainment.

Piedmont Blues Albums. Buddy MOSS – atlanta blues. This 23 track compilation traces Buddy’s career from blowing harp on Atlanta street-corners to his later work with Josh White and Brownie McGhee. There are 18 examples of fine Piedmont picking on this compilation, and six religious songs when Joshua White was performing as ‘The Singing Christian’. It is hard to fault this album. If this list is a little light on Mississippi Delta blues, it’s not for lack of artistic merit – many surviving Delta blues recordings would sound harsh to ears unaccustomed to primitive recording techniques.
