Webb Pierce's '60s albums are all cut from the same cloth - some are better than others, but if you like one you'll probably like them all. Sands of Gold yielded three Top 20 country hits: the dreamy, tropical-flavored "Sands of Gold," the perfectly wistful "Those Wonderful Years," and "If the Back Door Could Talk," which, despite its modern production flourishes, sounds like a song Pierce would have recorded in the '50s. Sands of Gold is one of Pierce's best albums of the '60s, and was remixed and reissued on CD with the album Sweet Memories in 1993.
