Jazz Samba is a bossa nova album by Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd released by Verve Records in 1962. Jazz Samba signaled the beginning of the bossa nova craze in America. Stan Getz was the featured soloist and the tracks were arranged by Charlie Byrd, who had first heard bossa nova during a tour of Brazil in 1961. Getz and Byrd were accompanied by two bassists: Keter Betts and Joe Byrd, Charlie Byrd's brother who also played guitar.

ARTIST: Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd. ALBUM, TITLE: Jazz Samba. Release year, date: 1962/2013. STYLE: Bossa Nova, Latin Jazz. Although it was Byrd who brought the music to the States, it is Getz who does most here to popularize bossa nova. It’s as if Getz was born to play this music, while Byrd has a little difficulty grasping its essence. Aside from Desafinado, Jazz Samba includes only two other tunes that became bossa nova standards: Baia and One Note Samba. It, thus, might be considered less representative of the bossa nova form at its best than those that followed. The album rose to 1 on the Billboard album chart, and remained in the top 100 for 70 weeks
