Album Name Taedium Vitae. 版公司 Southern Lord Records.
Taedium Vitae translates from Latin as tired of life, which is something of a depressing title from a band as young as Centuries. If anything this is a record designed, musically at least, to invigorate and shake any notions of apathy until they are nothing more than dust on the wind
Principals of the teeming Florida hardcore scene since 2008, West Palm Beach punk-metal agitators Centuries were ripe for the pickings when Southern Lord gobbled them up, hot off of a series of high-profile tours and well-received demos. At just over 20 minutes long, their debut long-player is more of a drive-by shooting than a full-on assault, but what the nine-track collection lacks in breadth it more than makes up for in viciousness.
Ferocious Florida hardcore unit Centuries explode into our consciousness and attack our senses this August with their Southern Lord debut full length, Taedium Vitae. Recorded just a few short months ago with Kris Hillbert at Legitimate Business in Greensboro, the resulting album is a relentless barrage of abrasive, blackened, emotive hardcore played with utmost intensity and a strong sense of urgency. On Taedium Vitae, Centuries take their potent brew of dark hardcore, tragic melodies, volatile d-beat leanings and emotive angst-ridden vocal assault to extreme new levels
Florida's Centuries prove that. Their debut full-length, Taedium Vitae, is a short, sharp kick to the face (and groin); a take no prisoners album which will not be soon forgotten. The album title and all the song titles are in Latin. Some might perceive this as being pretentious, others might view it as using intelligence to convey a deep message. Either way, I have decoded the various words for the benefit of the lazy, as well as for those who might be interested. The title, Taedium Vitae, translates to Tired of Life.
